Winter Warming Plan helps protect unsheltered residents from cold

Whitby, Ontario – Winter is dangerous for those without a place to call home. People experiencing homelessness, or those who are marginally housed, are one of the most at-risk groups for illnesses related to cold weather.

Applications now open for Durham Region’s Anti-Racism Taskforce

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is currently seeking two community members and one institutional representative to join its Durham Region Anti-Racism Taskforce (DRART).
Established in 2021, DRART’s mandate is to act in an advisory role to Regional Council, through the Finance and Administration Committee, on issues related to racism.
All applicants must live or work in Durham Region. In addition, the institutional representative should be employed by any of the following organizations:

Whitby, Ontario – In celebration of this week’s International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the Regional Municipality of Durham is announcing the first five recipients of the Durham Region Para Sport and Recreation Opportunities Fund, in partnership with Durham Community Foundation.
