Did you know you may be able to access low-cost Internet services?
Rogers Connected for Success - Internet, TV bundles and mobile (cell phone) services
The Connected for Success program offers high-speed, low-cost Ignite Internet, TV bundles and mobile services to those receiving eligible provincial income support, disability benefits, seniors receiving the federal Guaranteed Income Supplement, or rent-geared-to-income tenants of non-profit housing partner organizations. The program includes free installation and modem rental, unlimited data and no credit checks, and a needs assessment to help determine which speed best meets the household’s needs.
You may be eligible for this program if:
- You are in receipt of OW or ODSP
- You are a senior in receipt of GIS
- You are a tenant in a not-for-profit housing corporation partnered with the program. Several housing providers in Durham, including Durham Regional Local Housing Corporation, Durham Region Non-Profit Housing Corporation and Ajax Municipal Housing Corporation, are partners and a full list of housing partners is available here.

Connecting Families Initiative (CFI)
The Connecting Families Initiative (CFI) is a collaboration between Internet service providers (ISPs) across Canada and Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED) to help Canadians living with low-income access affordable home Internet. You may qualify if:
- You are a family that lives with low-income and currently receives the maximum Canada Child Benefit (CCB), or
- You are an older adult that lives with low-income and currently receives the maximum Guaranteed Income Supplement (GIS).
If you qualify, you will get a letter from the Government of Canada to sign-up on the online portal. If you don’t currently have internet at home or need help signing up, visit a local library or community centre that offers public Internet access, or call Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada, at 1-800-328-6189 (voice); 1-866-694-6189 (TTY).

Borrow a Mobile HotSpot or Internet Kit for free from the library
Many libraries offer mobile hotspot/wifi kits for library patrons to borrow that provide free internet access at home. Note - the length of time that you can borrow the kit varies from library to library and late return fees may apply. Generally, all that is needed is a library card, which you can get free of charge. Check with your local library for availability.
