Child Support
Are you eligible for child support? A Family Support Worker can help.
Child support provides an ongoing income that improves your family’s financial security and includes both parents in the financial support of their children. It is not taxed as income and not deducted from social assistance payments.
Family Support Worker Program
The Family Support Worker Program is a free service to help residents with low income get child and/or spousal support. The process to receive support can be complicated, but it can be made easier with the right help.
We can:
- Answer your questions about child and/or spousal support.
- Help with process and paperwork for both court orders and private agreements.
- Search for absent payors.
- Review existing court orders and agreements and help with the process to increase support amounts when appropriate.
- Register agreements with the Family Responsibility Office to assist in enforcement.
- Refer to other services, including mediation, legal aid and family counselling.
