The Regional Municipality of Durham's Works Department provides the following services to Durham Region residents and business:
- Plan, design, build, operate and maintain Regional roads, bridges, traffic signals and facilities.
- Supply safe municipal drinking water. Plan, design, build, operate and maintain the water treatment and distribution systems across the region.
- Plan, design, build, operate and maintain the sanitary sewage collection and treatment systems.
- Collect, process and dispose of garbage, recyclables and compost. We also collect your electronic and household hazardous waste.
- Operate the Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC) and York-Durham Regional Environmental Lab (REL).
We perform various studies that determine how projects are designed and implemented. You can search our detailed database of current Public Works Projects for more information on a specific project.
As-Built Drawings are available for Regional water, sanitary sewerage and roads infrastructure.
Design and Construction Specifications for Regional Services are available for the provision of water and sanitary sewerage infrastructure owned or to be constructed by the Region.
