Region of Durham child care centres to reopen

Whitby, Ontario – Early learning and child care centres operated by The Regional Municipality of Durham will begin to reopen on June 29, following the closure of emergency child care sites.
Staff reached out to families to confirm their current service needs. This feedback will help to inform the reopening plans for Regional centres:
- Ajax Early Learning and Child Care Centre
- Edna Thomson Early Learning and Child Care Centre (Bowmanville)
- Clara Hughes Early Learning and Child Care Centre (Oshawa)
Patio season opens in Durham; Region expediting Road Occupancy Permits for patio expansions

Whitby, Ontario – Today, the Region of Durham moves into Stage 2 of the provincial government’s re-opening plan. As part of this stage, restaurants may open patios—with the option to expand patios on a sidewalk and/or curb/parking lane—in addition to providing take out and/or delivery service.
Restaurant owners are advised that the Region is expediting Road Occupancy Permits, for these temporary patio expansions, where it is safe to do so. There are no fees associated with Regional Road Occupancy...

Whitby, Ontario – Early learning and child care centres operated by The Regional Municipality of Durham will remain closed until further notice. The closure will provide enough preparation time to re-open the child care programs safely, ensuring learning environments support healthy development during COVID-19.
Emergency child care centres will continue to operate until June 26, offering free care exclusively for eligible healthcare and frontline workers so these individuals can provide critical services...
