Construction on Conlin Road in Whitby and Oshawa will be ongoing until October 2023

Durham Region is working to improve infrastructure and expand the water and sanitary sewer systems on Conlin Road. Conlin Road, Conlin Road West and Thornton Road North will be closed in stages to through traffic throughout the construction work. Durham Region is about to begin Phase 2 of an innovative project for a segment of Regional Road 18 in Clarington, between Concession Road 5 and the bridge south of Kendal. Portions of the roadway will be reconstructed as part of a pilot project incorporating the use of recycled materials.

Durham York Energy Centre Environmental Screening Report available for public review

In response to population growth, the Regional Municipalities of Durham and York have submitted an Environmental Screening Report to the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, requesting an amendment to the Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) for the Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC) to process an additional 20,000 tonnes of garbage, for an annual total of 160,000 tonnes of garbage as opposed to the 140,000 tonnes currently allowed to be processed.
