Beware of new water treatment sales tactics being used in Durham

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to remind residents that the Region does not sell or endorse water filters or treatment equipment. The Region has been contacted by concerned residents inquiring about phone calls from salespersons who want access to their home to test the water or inspect the water service. In the past, salespersons have gone door-to-door making similar claims.

Durham Region diverts 160 metric tonnes of household batteries from the waste stream

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region has officially diverted 160.5 metric tonnes (160,500 kilograms) of household batteries from the waste stream through its award-winning curbside battery collection program with the recent spring collection drive.

Durham Region road projects affected by contractor's labour disruption

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise the public that due to the labour disruption with LiUNA Local 183, several Regional road construction projects will stop work immediately. This union represents contract workers in the paving industry employed by Coco Paving and other companies. There are currently three Regional road construction projects that involve Coco Paving. This labour disruption does not involve Durham Region employees.
