Region of Durham celebrates the official opening of the Nonquon Water Pollution Control Plant

Whitby, Ontario – Today, The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department celebrated the official opening of the new Nonquon Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP). The new facility will provide for future growth in Port Perry, while utilizing the existing lagoons to store peak flows until they can be treated by the new plant.

Durham Region receives additional funding to support access to affordable child care

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has received more than $4 million in provincial funding from the Ministry of Education to increase access to affordable licensed child care spaces, support new child care fee subsidies, and reduce fee subsidy waiting lists, as part of the provincial Child Care Expansion Plan.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents and businesses that the underground repairs of the trunk sanitary sewer in Lord Elgin Park in the Town of Ajax are complete. The by-pass pumps have been decommissioned and are currently being prepared for removal. The sanitary sewer system in this area is back to normal operation.
