Region of Durham installing Wi-Fi at homeless shelters thanks to donation

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has received a donation of $32,500 through the COVID-19 Community Response Fund for Vulnerable Populations—a collaboration between the CMA Foundation and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities.

Health Department reports West Nile virus positive mosquitoes in Ajax

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has received notification of adult mosquitoes that have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV) from a mosquito trap site in Ajax. Confirmation was received on Aug. 27. Positive mosquitoes have now been confirmed from traps located in Ajax, Pickering and Oshawa.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, City of Oshawa and Town of Whitby, advise residents that the four-bag limit for curbside garbage collection will be returning on Tuesday, September 8, and that the sale of garbage bag tags is now available.

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department has received notification of more adult mosquitoes that have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), with positive mosquitoes now reported at an additional mosquito trap site in Oshawa. This latest confirmation was received on Aug. 20. The first positive mosquitoes were reported from a trap located in north Oshawa on July 28.
