Health Department reports season’s first positive mosquito pools for West Nile Virus

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department has received notification of adult mosquitoes that have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). The positive batch of mosquitoes was collected from one of the Health Department’s mosquito trap sites located in north Oshawa. Positive confirmation was received on Sept. 6. These are the first mosquitoes in Durham Region to test positive for WNV this season.

Region of Durham to host 46th annual auction

Whitby, Ontario – Local residents and business owners who are looking for office materials, maintenance supplies, mechanical equipment, and vehicles are invited to visit the Durham Region annual auction.
When: Auction items can be previewed on Friday, September 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. On Saturday, September 28, the gates will open at 8 a.m., with the auction beginning at 9:30 a.m.

Whitby, Ontario – As Durham Region students gear up to go back to school next week, the Region of Durham is reminding road users to keep safety top of mind in school zones.

Whitby, Ontario, Aug. 27, 2019 – Durham Region Health Department, in partnership with the Durham Region Youth Suicide Prevention Action Group (YSPAG), is inviting residents to recognize World Suicide Prevention Day on Sept. 10 and participate in Distress Centre Durham’s 15th Annual Walk for Suicide Awareness on Sept. 7.
