Region of Durham commits $10.25 million toward affordable rental housing

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is committing $10.25 million in funding through the At Home Incentive Program to support the development of three affordable rental housing projects.

Durham Region’s Waste Management Facilities increasing user fees effective May 1

Whitby, Ontario – Effective May 1, 2024, the minimum user fee for general residential and commercial garbage waste will increase from $5 per load to $7 per load for loads up to 40 kilograms (88 pounds). For every eight kilograms greater than 40 kilograms, the fee will increase from $1 to $1.40. The flat rate for loads weighing 1,000 kilograms (metric tonne) or more will increase from $125 to $175 per 1,000 kilograms. Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has developed a new interactive dashboard to monitor local opioid-related statistics and issues. This new dashboard, known as the Durham Region Opioid Information System (DROIS), will replace the previous online monitoring resource of the same name and will continue to be located on durham.ca.
