Update on unplanned outage at Durham York Energy Centre

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to advise the public that scheduled annual maintenance, at the Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC) has been moved up to accommodate the ongoing unplanned outage of boiler #2.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to advise the public that boiler #2 at the Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC) will be off-line for unscheduled maintenance to repair a damaged water tube within the boiler. The facility operator, Covanta, has shut-down the affected boiler until a repair can be completed. Boiler #1 continues to operate and the facility continues to accept waste.

Durham Regional Council has approved a permanent Open Data program for The Regional Municipality of Durham. This will allow certain data to be made freely available to the public, in a machine-readable format, without any restrictions from copyright, patents or other mechanisms of control.
