Limited second dose COVID-19 vaccine appointments available for expanded eligibility groups

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department is aware of the announcement from the province earlier today which indicated beginning June 26, youth 12 to 17-years old who live in a Delta hot spot become eligible for an accelerated second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Second dose eligibility for this group has been decreased to 28 days after the first dose of vaccine from the previous eight weeks (56 days) that was outlined by the province.

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has now received the shipment of Pfizer vaccine that was delayed earlier this week. This delay, which was noted by the Health Department on June 20, affected the supply of Pfizer vaccine at Durham Region mass immunization clinics resulting in the Health Department administering Moderna vaccine at area clinics for appointments booked by individuals 18 and older.

Health Department receives notice from province about delay in delivery of Pfizer vaccine

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has been notified by the Ontario Ministry of Health that there will be a delay in shipment of Pfizer vaccine affecting delivery to Durham Region mass immunization clinics. As a result of this delay, effective June 22, all clinics in Durham Region will move to offer Moderna for appointments booked by individuals 18 and older until additional Pfizer vaccine is received.

Province designates Durham Region as a Delta variant of concern hot spot
