Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department is expanding vaccine eligibility to individuals 12 years and older. Bookings for this eligibility group will be available starting May 25 at 9 p.m. To book appointments, visit www.durham.ca/vaccineappointment or call 1-888-444-5113. Health Department begins 2021 West Nile virus surveillance activities

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has started West Nile virus (WNV) surveillance and control activities for the 2021 season. Ongoing surveillance for WNV involves a number of activities to monitor for the virus across the Region including, implementing a weekly adult mosquito-trapping program, a larval mosquito surveillance program and a larviciding program involving regional catch basins, as well as identifying stagnant water sites where mosquitoes could breed.
