Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham has become aware of misconceptions in the community about the planned Mixed Waste Pre-sort and Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Facility. Durham’s population continues to grow and is expected to reach more than one million people in the next decade. Even with our successful diversion programs, more residents in Durham means more organic waste, recyclables, and garbage to manage.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is moving forward with the Oshawa Micro-Housing Pilot Project, a 10-unit micro-home community in central Oshawa.
With occupancy projected for fall 2021, the Oshawa Micro-Housing Pilot Project includes 10 micro-home units that will offer temporary transitional housing, with various supports. Licensed child care workers across Durham Region are now also eligible
Whitby, Ontario - As announced by the province earlier today, Durham Region Health Department has now expanded eligibility for area hot spot postal code residents to those 45 and older, or those who will be turning 45 in 2021 to receive COVID-19 vaccine at designated community mass immunization clinics. We are providing a correction to information contained in this news release to clarify that individuals must be at least 18 years old on the day of their appointment to be eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. This clarification was received from the province.
