Emergency child care will be available for eligible workers in Durham Region

Whitby, Ontario – Emergency child care for school-aged children will be available to eligible workers until in-person learning resumes.
As per the provincial announcement, elementary schools will move to remote learning following the April break. To ensure health care and front-line workers may continue providing critical services, emergency child care for school-aged children is available beginning Monday, April 19 to eligible workers who have no alternatives.

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is seeking 10 representatives from the Brock community to serve on the Beaverton Supportive Housing Community Liaison Committee and provide valuable input on the Beaverton Supportive Housing Project.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions at the intersection of Liberty Street and Taunton Road in the Municipality of Clarington.
When: April 19 to May 21. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Liberty Street (Regional Road 14) and Taunton Road (Regional Road 4) in the Municipality of Clarington.

Ontario declares state of emergency, issues stay-at-home order

Whitby, Ontario – This afternoon, the Province of Ontario declared a state of emergency and issued a province-wide stay-at-home order, beginning Thursday April 8.
When: Further restrictions go into effect on Thursday April 8 at 12:01 a.m. and will remain in place for at least four weeks.
What: In addition to the emergency brake measures, further restrictions in the stay-at-home order include, but are not limited to:
- Discount and big box stores will be allowed to open for sale of essential items only.
