Durham Region Transit offers free PRESTO cards with minimum $6.50 purchase

Whitby, Ontario – To encourage the transition to contactless fare payment, Durham Region Transit (DRT) will waive the $6 activation fee for those who load a minimum of $6.50 on their card at the time of purchase – the equivalent of two single ride PRESTO taps – through to the end of 2020.
When: PRESTO cards will be available starting September 13, 2020.
Where: Customers can pick up a free PRESTO card, with a minimum purchase of $6.50, at the following DRT points of sale:

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions at the intersection of Rossland Road West and Westney Road North (Regional Road 31) in Ajax.
When: September 14 to 17 (daytime only from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.). Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: The intersection of Rossland Road West and Westney Road North in the Town of Ajax.

Port Perry residents asked to practise additional water conservation during water tower maintenance

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is asking residents using the Port Perry municipal water supply to practise additional water conservation efforts as the Works Department conducts maintenance on the Port Perry water tower. Residents should limit non-essential water use during this time.
When: Friday, September 4 to Friday, October 2. Once the work is completed, residents may return to normal water conservation efforts. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
