Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with the area municipalities, is inviting residents to drop off items for reuse, recycling and safe disposal.
When and where:
- Saturday, September 21 from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine), Lakeview Park (parking lot), Kluane Avenue, Oshawa
- Saturday, October 5 from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine), Municipal Boat Launch (parking lot), 2 Old Rail Lane, Port Perry

Whitby, Ontario – Curbside Giveaway Day is back. Curbside Giveaway Day is an event organized in co-operation with the local area municipalities, where residents can place unwanted items in good condition—clearly marked as “Free”—on their curb for anyone to pick up. At the end of the Curbside Giveaway Day, residents return unclaimed items to their home.

Speed limit reduction on Brock Street in the Town of Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – In support of Durham Vision Zero, The Regional Municipality of Durham will be reducing the speed limit on Brock Street to 40 kilometres/hour (km/h) in collaboration with the Town of Whitby to convert the Port Whitby area to an area wide 40 km/h zone.
Where: Brock Street from Victoria Street to Water Street in Whitby.
When: The speed limit reduction signs are expected to be installed before September 3, 2024. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the installation schedule.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents and businesses of an upcoming road closure on Elm Street, in the City of Oshawa.
When: September 4 to September 11. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Elm Street will be closed at Simcoe Street South. Access to Elm Street from Celina is restricted to local traffic only during this time. Lane restrictions remain ongoing on Simcoe Street South.
