Whitby, Ontario – Residents are invited to attend the Durham Farm Connections Open House, an interactive way to learn about agriculture in Durham Region.

Whitby, Ontario – The Durham Emergency Management Office (DEMO) reminds residents to be prepared for emergency situations this spring, such as the potential for flooding caused by melting snow or heavy rains—which can result in hazardous driving conditions, issues in and around your home, and increased water levels in local bodies of water. Simcoe Street to close north of Rossland Road for construction

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents that construction work will close Simcoe Street (Regional Road 2) from north of Rossland Road to south of Robert Street in Oshawa.
When: Construction will begin the week of April 3 and the road closure will begin on April 10. Work is expected to last until mid-October. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Save unwanted batteries for curbside collection

Whitby, Ontario – With the upcoming spring time change and local fire departments’ promotion of changing batteries in smoke alarms, the Region of Durham is reminding residents to save their used or unwanted batteries for recycling during the next curbside battery collection.
When: Battery collection occurs the week of April 17 on Blue Box collection days.
Where: Households across Durham Region who currently receive curbside collection services.

Help improve early learning and child care in Durham Region

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Children’s Services Division has launched its Early Learning and Child Care Survey to collect feedback from parents and caregivers on how to improve Ontario Early Years Centres and child care in Durham Region.
When: The survey will be available until April 3.
Where: Parents and caregivers of children 0 to 12 years old in Durham Region are invited to participate in the online survey at www.durham.ca/ELCC.
