Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department and Lakeridge Health have extended the timeline for two area COVID-19 mass immunization clinics to remain open until the end of 2021. The clinics located in Ajax and Oshawa were slated to close by mid to late September, but both clinics will now remain open joining the list of walk-in, pop-up and mobile clinics being offered in numerous communities throughout Durham Region.

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department is urging anyone who attended the 43rd Annual Jane and Finch Classic basketball tournament, held at the Playground Global facility, 1313 Boundary Road, Oshawa, from Aug. 3 to 8, to get tested as soon as possible. The Health Department has been notified of multiple cases of COVID-19 associated with this event and is having difficulty reaching all players and spectators. Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department is updating eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine to include third doses for individuals most at-risk of serious illness from the virus. Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department is aware of the announcement from the province earlier today which indicated beginning June 26, youth 12 to 17-years old who live in a Delta hot spot become eligible for an accelerated second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Second dose eligibility for this group has been decreased to 28 days after the first dose of vaccine from the previous eight weeks (56 days) that was outlined by the province.

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has now received the shipment of Pfizer vaccine that was delayed earlier this week. This delay, which was noted by the Health Department on June 20, affected the supply of Pfizer vaccine at Durham Region mass immunization clinics resulting in the Health Department administering Moderna vaccine at area clinics for appointments booked by individuals 18 and older.
