Participants of Oshawa basketball tournament urged to get tested for COVID-19

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department is urging anyone who attended the 43rd Annual Jane and Finch Classic basketball tournament, held at the Playground Global facility, 1313 Boundary Road, Oshawa, from Aug. 3 to 8, to get tested as soon as possible. The Health Department has been notified of multiple cases of COVID-19 associated with this event and is having difficulty reaching all players and spectators. Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department is updating eligibility for the COVID-19 vaccine to include third doses for individuals most at-risk of serious illness from the virus. In addition, eligibility is being expanded to include all youth born in 2009, allowing youth that are turning 12 later in 2021 earlier opportunities to be vaccinated.

Whitby, Ontario – Effective Aug. 14, Durham Region Health Department will begin winding down local COVID-19 vaccine mass immunization clinics, giving community members a few more weeks to get their first or second dose at one of these clinics.
