Lane restrictions on Taunton Road in Pickering

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents of lane restrictions on Taunton Road (Regional Road 4), between Brock Road and Whites Road, in Pickering.
When: Ongoing until the end of the year. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Taunton Road, between Brock Road and Whites Road, in the City of Pickering.
Why: Infrastructure improvements to support new development.

Donate household items to charity at Reuse Days

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is encouraging residents to drop off reusable items, free of charge, at Reuse Days. The items will be donated to Habitat for Humanity ReStores (Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge locations), Diabetes Canada and the Salvation Army Thrift Store.
When: Saturday, August 19, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Where: Durham Region Waste Management Centre, 4600 Garrard Road, Whitby.

Bloor Street West in Oshawa to be closed for construction

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents and businesses that construction work will close Bloor Street West (Regional Road 22), from Simcoe Street to Cubert Street, as well as the Highway 401 off-ramp at Simcoe Street, in Oshawa.
When: The closure will begin on August 14 and last for approximately four months. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Update #2: Intersection of Thickson Road and Champlain Avenue/Consumers Drive

Whitby, Ontario – The intersection of Thickson Road and Champlain Avenue/Consumers Drive has fully reopened to traffic, now that the broken watermain and related road damage has been repaired.
Where: The intersection of Thickson Road and Champlain Avenue/Consumers Drive is now fully open.
Why: The road closure was necessary to repair a broken watermain and related damage to the road base and asphalt. All road and water infrastructure impacted by the incident have now been restored.

Whitby, Ontario – As the Durham Region Works Department continues to repair the roadway affected by the watermain break at Thickson Road and Champlain Avenue/Consumers Drive, portions (the west and south legs) of the intersection have reopened to traffic. Water service has been restored to all area businesses, and access is available to all businesses.
When: The watermain has been repaired, and work to repair the related damage to the road base and asphalt is ongoing.
