Weight restriction season on regional roads ends April 30

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham’s 2022 weight restriction season will end as of April 30. This affects vehicles that are heavier than 5,000 kilograms or five tonnes per axle.
When: The final day of Durham Region’s seasonal weight restrictions is April 30.
Where: Signs will be removed from regional roads where these weight restrictions no longer apply, however please note that some roads may have year-round weight restrictions applied. Please refer to the complete map for more...

Whitby, Ontario – In support of Durham Vision Zero, a strategic road safety action plan, the Region of Durham will be implementing leading pedestrian intervals for the existing traffic lights at the intersection of Brock Street and Toronto Street (Highway 47) in the Township of Uxbridge.

Durham Region installs equipment on roads for Annual Count Program

Whitby, Ontario – As part of the Region of Durham’s Annual Count Program, contractors will be installing hoses on Regional roads and multi-use paths to count vehicular and cyclist volumes and speeds. The data collected from the hoses will inform the Region’s long-term planning initiatives.
When: Hoses and traffic recording equipment will be installed throughout the Region from April to October.

The Region of Durham partners with Christian Faith Outreach Centre to help homeless residents

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham has partnered with Christian Faith Outreach Centre to open The Ajax Hub, a support hub for individuals experiencing or at-risk of homelessness. The Ajax Hub includes Durham Social Services, housing stability supports, shelter admittance, workshop space for community agencies to lead activities and learning opportunities, laundry facilities, health-care support, washrooms and showers.
