Nomination period for Regional Chair position has closed

Whitby, Ontario – The nomination period for the Office of Regional Chair has closed.  

When: The nomination period closed today (August 19), as of 2 p.m.  

Where: Candidates for the Office of Regional Chair had until today at 2 p.m., to file their nomination papers with the Regional Clerk, as outlined in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996.  

Note: A list of Candidates for the Office of Regional Chair is available at durham.ca. The municipal election will be held on October 24.

Lane restrictions on Taunton Road West in the Town of Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Taunton Road West (Regional Road 4) in the Town of Whitby.

When: August 22 to September 2. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Where: Taunton Road West (Regional Road 4), from Coronation Road to 250 metres east of Coronation Road, in the Town of Whitby.

Why: Lane restrictions will be in place to allow for storm sewer work to support new development.

Upcoming road construction work on Lake Ridge Road

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, in co-operation with the City of Pickering, Town of Whitby, and townships of Scugog and Uxbridge, is rehabilitating Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23). Residents should expect minor traffic delays.

Upcoming road closure on Rossland Road in Whitby

The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with the Town of Whitby, is advising residents of a road closure on Rossland Road in Whitby.

When: August 22 to 24. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Where: Rossland Road at Brock Street North in the Town of Whitby.
