Changes to Regional services in observance of the holiday season

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of impacts to Regional programs and services in observance of the holiday season.

Durham Region facilities and call centres

• All Durham Region facilities, including Regional Headquarters in Whitby and Regional front counters and call centre services, will be closed at noon on December 22 and December 29, and will be closed on December 25 and 26, 2023, and January 1, 2024.

Durham Regional Council approves 2024 water and sanitary sewer user rates

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Regional Council has approved the 2024 water supply and sanitary sewer user rates, with a combined increase of 4.9 per cent, plus 2.5 per cent for impacts of Ontario Bill 23, More Homes Built Faster Act, 2022, Ontario Bill 134, Affordable Homes and Goods Jobs Act, 2023 and related provincial legislation. Convenient curbside natural Christmas tree collection in January 2024

Whitby, Ontario – When the holidays are over, Durham Region will provide its annual curbside collection of natural Christmas trees. Natural Christmas trees will be composted with leaf and yard waste.

When and where:

• Ajax and Pickering: Christmas tree collection will be on regular collection days during the weeks of January 8 and 15 only.
