Durham Region Summer Student Hiring

Every year Durham Region recruits a number of summer students to provide meaningful work to students and deliver work outcomes for the community. We are looking for ways to modernize our summer student recruiting process while providing increased access to opportunities and due diligence in the process

The goal of this project is to have students develop and innovate a summer student recruitment process by getting student input and potentially building a new student-led program with the underlying inclusive foundation of "Nothing for us without us" that can be used for recruiting students for summer jobs at Durham Region. 

Host Department: Corporate Services

Type of Collaboration: Upper-year group project (e.g. capstone)

Anticipated Outcome: A pilot process to hire summer students for the 2025 Summer Season. 

Deliverables: Prototyping

Timeline: 4-8 months

Desired Start Date: Fall semester 2024
