Want to help shape the future of transparency at the Region of Durham? Join forces with the Access and Privacy Office to help develop our Open Government Strategy with a focus on Open Information.
Open Government is a worldwide initiative that supports better access to government information to enhance transparency and citizen engagement. It has three main streams of activity:
- Open Data: government data that can be freely used, re-used, and redistributed by anyone.
- Open Information: the routine or proactive disclosure of government information.
- Open Engagement: the active and intentional engagement with the public on government planning, decision making, and development of policies, programs, and services.
The Region is seeking your research skills to help support our Open Information stream. You will conduct a jurisdictional and environmental scan and share your findings in a written report. The expected result of this collaboration is to create a catalogue of regional information that can be routinely or proactively released to the public.
Whether you are studying law, public policy, information science, or any related field, this is your chance to make a difference and leave a lasting impact on your community.
