Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department is encouraging residents to remember important water safety tips when enjoying a swim in pools, lakes and rivers this summer.

Reuse Day: July 20 in Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region’s Works Department is encouraging residents to drop off reusable items, free of charge, at the upcoming Reuse Day event. Items will be donated to Habitat for Humanity ReStores (Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge locations), Diabetes Canada and the Salvation Army Thrift Store.
When: July 20, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reuse Days continue monthly until October at rotating locations in Durham Region.

Watch your speed: radar feedback signs are coming to your community

Whitby, Ontario – In support of Durham Vision Zero, the Region of Durham has launched a speed radar feedback sign (RFB) program on Regional roads to improve driver awareness of speed limits and reduce aggressive driving.

Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of July 2 indicate that two beaches have been posted as unsafe for swimming due to elevated bacteria levels. Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is reminding residents to keep the health and safety of waste collection operators in mind when they set out their waste for curbside collection.
