Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with the City of Oshawa, is advising residents of the temporary restoration and opening of Conlin Road including the intersection of Thornton Road North and Conlin Road West.
When: The road reopens as of December 22.

Durham Regional Council approves 2023 water and sanitary sewer user rates

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Regional Council has approved the 2023 water supply and sanitary sewer user rates, with a combined increase of 4.3 per cent, an estimated annual increase of $45.92 for the average residential customer.
In addition to ongoing maintenance and operation of the water supply and sanitary sewerage systems, Durham Region has several major projects planned for 2023 including:
- Planning, detailed design and construction of 24.1 kilometres of watermain and sanitary sewer projects.
Convenient curbside natural Christmas tree collection in January

Whitby, Ontario – When the holidays are over, Durham Region will provide its annual curbside collection of natural Christmas trees. Natural Christmas trees will be composted with leaf and yard waste. When and where:
- Ajax and Pickering: Christmas tree collection will be on regular collection days during the weeks of January 9 and 16 only.

On July 1, 2022, Durham Region made changes to the Sewer User Rate By-law #90-2003 regarding the limit of responsibility for repairs on private property related to sanitary sewer service connections.

Appointments being scheduled to replace outdated residential water meters

On behalf of Durham Region, Neptune Technology Group (Neptune) will be scheduling appointments with property owners whose water meters are due for replacement and you may receive notices from now until March 2023.
These appointments are to upgrade existing water meters and update user accounts, which allows the Region of Durham to conduct remote readings.
