New protected left-turn signals at two Thickson Road intersections in Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – In support of Durham Vision Zero, The Regional of Municipality of Durham has modified left-turn signals at two Thickson Road (Regional Road 26) intersections in the Town of Whitby.
Where: The northbound to westbound left-turn signal at Thickson Road and Taunton Road (Regional Road 4), and the southbound to eastbound left-turn signal at Thickson Road and Dundas Street in Whitby.
When: These new signals were installed recently and are currently in operation.

Mosquitoes test positive for West Nile virus in Clarington

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has received notification that adult mosquitoes in Clarington have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV). There have now been 11 mosquito batches in Durham Region that have tested positive for WNV this season including, three in Ajax, three in Clarington, three in Oshawa and two in Pickering.

Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of August 12 indicate that two public beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of upcoming lane restrictions and lane closures on Taunton Road East in the Town of Whitby.
When: Westbound lane restrictions begin August 23, followed by full westbound lane closures August 24 to 26. Lane closures will remain until end of day August 26. Unfavourable weather conditions and the Region’s contractor schedule may influence the work schedule.
