Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region residents are invited to bring their children to the Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC) for a free public event on Friday, October 25 and Friday, November 15 and learn how we are transforming household waste into valuable resources.
When: Friday, October 25 and Friday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Durham York Energy Centre at 1835 Energy Drive in Courtice.
Why: Activities include:
- Guided tours to our control room to view the waste pit and see the “claw”.
Lane restrictions on Regional Highway 2 in Clarington

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Regional Highway 2 in the Municipality of Clarington.
When: October 7 to November 8. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
Where: Regional Highway 2, from west of Ovens Road to 30 metres west of Newtonville Road (Regional Road 18), and from 120 metres east of Newtonville Road to east of East Townline Road, in Clarington.

Area wide speed limit reduction in Sunderland

Whitby, Ontario – In support of Durham Vision Zero, The Regional Municipality of Durham and the Township of Brock will be installing an area wide 40 kilometre per hour (km/h) posted speed limit in Sunderland.
Where: River Street (Regional Road 10), from Sunderland Meadows Drive to Highway 7/12, in Sunderland. The Township of Brock’s local roads in Sunderland will also be changed to an area wide 40 km/h speed limit, unless otherwise posted.
