Whitby, Ontario – The Durham Emergency Management Office (DEMO) reminds residents to be prepared for emergency situations this summer, such as the potential for severe thunderstorms and tornadoes.

Breezy Drive in Pickering closed for construction

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents that construction has resulted in the closure of Breezy Drive in Pickering.
When: Now until August 15. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Breezy Drive from Essa Crescent to West Shore Boulevard in the City of Pickering.
Why: For the installation of a sanitary sewer and road reconstruction work.
Note: Access to local driveways will be maintained at all times....
Brock Street South and Water Street re-opened in Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is advising residents that Brock Street South and Water Street in Whitby has been re-opened, but with a temporary weight restriction of five tonnes per axle. The street was closed as a precautionary measure during flooding.
When: Brock Street South and Water Street is now open, but the weight restriction will remain in effect until further notice.

Construction to close Maple Grove Road in Clarington

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents that construction will close Maple Grove Road in the Municipality of Clarington in stages until mid-November.
When:
Stage one: Work begins the week of June 19. Maple Grove Road will be closed from King Street (Regional Highway 2) southerly 120 metres, for approximately three weeks, starting July 4.

Whitby, Ontario – Today, The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department celebrated the official opening of the new Nonquon Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP). The new facility will provide for future growth in Port Perry, while utilizing the existing lagoons to store peak flows until they can be treated by the new plant.
