Each year, from May to October, the Region implements line painting operations on Durham roads to ensure roadway markings are easily visible and reflective.
To ease your commute, the Region has equipped our road painting trucks with new technology that allows residents to view the location of painting operations in real-time. Residents can now plan their route by following our line painting crews on Waze—an innovative live traffic and navigation app.

New All-Way Stop Notification: Brock Street and Watson Street, Town of Whitby

The Regional Municipality of Durham will be implementing an all-way stop at Brock Street (Regional Highway 12) and Watson Street in the Town of Whitby. This improvement will require all drivers in each direction to stop their vehicle before entering the intersection, and yield to both pedestrians in the crosswalk and any traffic in or approaching the intersection. This enhancement will improve safety for drivers and pedestrians by providing a controlled crossing.

Help conserve water by practising odd-even lawn watering this summer

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is reminding residents using our municipal water supply to practise odd-even lawn watering, from now until September, in an effort to conserve water.
Odd-even lawn watering means residents with an odd number home address should only water on odd calendar days, and vice versa—if your home address is even, then water only on even calendar days.
