Watermain break causes restricted road access in Ajax

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department advises residents of restricted road access to Old Kingston Road at the intersection of Kingston Road (Regional Highway 2), in the Town of Ajax due to a watermain break.
When: Road access is closed until repairs are complete.
Where: Access to Old Kingston Road is closed at the intersection of Kingston Road in Ajax.
Why: To repair a broken watermain.

Concession Road 7 in Uxbridge to be closed for two weeks

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department advises residents that Concession Road 7 (Regional Road 1) in Uxbridge will be closed north of Sandford Road January 8 to 22.
When: January 8 to 22. Unfavorable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Concession Road 7, from Sandford Road to 400 metres north of Sandford Road, in the Township of Uxbridge
Why: To safely and efficiently replace a culvert.

Regional Council approves 2020 water and sewer use rates

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Regional Council has approved the 2020 water and sanitary sewer user rates, with a combined increase of 2.3 per cent, or $5.56 per quarterly billing ($22.24 per year) for the average Durham Region household. This represents an increase of less than seven cents a day for the average residential customer.

Region’s Open Data Program ranks 17th in Canada; earns title of most improved

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region’s Open Data Program was recently ranked 17th in Canada by the Open Cities Index (OCI). By jumping 25 spots from the previous survey, Durham Region also earned the title of 2019’s Most Improved.
