Upcoming lane restrictions on Simcoe Street South in Oshawa

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents and businesses of upcoming lane restrictions on Simcoe Street South in the City of Oshawa.
When: September 11 to fall 2024. Unfavourable weather conditions may impact the work schedule.
Where: North and southbound lane restrictions will be in effect on Simcoe Street South, from Olive Avenue to Metcalfe Street, in the City of Oshawa. One lane of traffic will remain open.

Grade 5 Action Pass returns to Durham Region

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department, in partnership with local municipal recreation centres and the Oshawa Mary Street YMCA, is relaunching the Grade 5 Action Pass program for the 2023-2024 school year.
The Grade 5 Action Pass gives students the opportunity to enjoy free public swimming, skating and drop-in programs at participating recreation centres across Durham Region. The pass is valid from September 2023 to August 2024 and can be used as often as the students want.

Durham honours residential school survivors for the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham will observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation at a march to honour residential school survivors on September 22 at 10 a.m.
The march will begin at the Pathway to Reconciliation Crosswalk, located near the south entrance of Durham Regional Headquarters in Whitby, and continue along Rossland Road to Fallingbrook Park before returning to Durham Regional Headquarters.

Reminder to share the road with farm vehicles

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham would like to remind residents that harvest season is coming soon. Drivers may experience temporary delays on rural roads due to slow moving farm machinery. Motorists are asked to be patient and cautious when sharing the road with these vehicles.
When: Harvest season starts in the fall and will continue until the ground is frozen.
