Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham is hosting an Early Learning and Child Care Showcase for community members considering a career in early childhood education.
What: Learn about career opportunities, post-secondary education programs, and chat with educators and representatives from local child care and early learning organizations. The Early Learning and Child Care Showcase will also feature an exhibit of work completed by local children and educators, and interactive learning experiences.

Region of Durham commits $7.45 million towards the development of affordable housing

Whitby, Ontario –The Regional Municipality of Durham will provide $7.45 million to support the development of two affordable housing projects through the Region’s new At Home Incentive Program.
Riverbank Homes Limited will receive $5.5 million to build 75 units in the City of Oshawa and Kindred Works will receive $1.95 million to build 13 units in the City of Pickering.

Regional Council approves 2023 Property Tax Supported Business Plans and Budget

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Regional Council has approved the 2023 Property Tax Supported Business Plans and Budget.
The 2023 Property Tax Supported Business Plans and Budget totals $1.9 billion in gross expenditures, requiring a 2023 tax levy of approximately $817.4 million. This represents a proposed net property tax increase of 5.2 per cent, or approximately $153 for the average residential home with an assessed value of $483,100.
