Protecting yourself from the flu is more important than ever before

Whitby, Ontario - Influenza, also known as “the flu”, season has begun, and Durham Region Health Department is reminding area residents to protect themselves and others by getting their annual influenza vaccine, known as the flu shot. The flu shot is safe and protects you from the influenza virus which causes a contagious respiratory illness. The vaccine is free and recommended for everyone six-months of age and older.

Appointments being scheduled to replace outdated residential water meters

Whitby, Ontario – On behalf of The Regional Municipality of Durham, Neptune Technology Group will be scheduling appointments with property owners whose water meters are 20 years or older.

When: Residents may receive notices from now until March 2022.  

Why: To upgrade existing water meters and update user accounts to allow the Region of Durham to conduct remote readings.

Lane restrictions in Pickering and Uxbridge

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions in the City of Pickering and the Township of Uxbridge for the installation of a broadband fibre optic network.

When: Ongoing until February 25, 2022.  Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
