Durham Region residents can share their thoughts on the draft 2021-2040 Long-term Waste Management Plan (Waste Plan) by completing a 10 to 15 minute survey by October 25. This is an opportunity for residents to provide feedback on the plan’s proposed targets and actions by visiting the virtual public engagement website at DurhamWasteOpenHouse.ca.

Changes to blue box recycling collection schedule in Oshawa and Whitby in observance of holiday

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is reminding City of Oshawa and Town of Whitby residents of changes to the scheduled curbside blue box collection, in observance of the statutory holiday.
When: October 11 to 16.

Region of Durham to test nuclear public alerting system on October 18 and 19

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham will conduct its fall test of the nuclear public alerting system on October 18 and 19. The system warns people in the unlikely event of an emergency at the nuclear generating stations in Clarington or Pickering.
The test will take place during daytime hours, over two days:

Whitby, Ontario – Residents are invited to join Durham Region’s Chief Administrative Officer, Commissioner of Finance and Treasurer and other members of our senior leadership team, for an hour-long virtual Town Hall session on October 20.
