Water samples results indicate presence of blue-green algae in Frenchman’s Bay Pickering area

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department was advised by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) of the presence of a blue-green algal bloom in small area of the southwest portion of Frenchman’s Bay, near Sunrise Ave., in Pickering. Laboratory test results were received from the MECP on Oct. 11. A water quality advisory sign will be posted in the area to ensure that the public is aware of the presence of blue-green algae in the water.

Whitby, Ontario – As the cold weather approaches, The Regional Municipality of Durham continues to work with its community partners to help ensure those who are most vulnerable, primarily the homeless population in Durham, take the appropriate precautions and find an emergency shelter. The Region has also made enhancements to available programs and services for the homeless.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents of lane restrictions on Westney Road (Regional Road 31) in the Town of Ajax.
When: October 14, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Westney Road, from Ritchie Avenue to Kingston Road (Durham Highway 2), in the Town of Ajax.

The Regional Municipality of Durham provides water treatment and the distribution of drinking water to residents using the municipal water supply.
