Update #3: Boilers restart at Durham York Energy Centre

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents that Covanta, the operator of the Durham York Energy Centre (DYEC), has restarted boiler #2 after taking it off-line for annual maintenance which was advanced to repair a damaged water tube within the boiler. Boiler #1 was restarted after completing the annual scheduled maintenance.

Simcoe Street to close north of Rossland Road for construction

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents that construction work will close Simcoe Street (Regional Road 2) from north of Rossland Road to south of Robert Street in Oshawa.
When: Construction will begin the week of April 3 and the road closure will begin on April 10. Work is expected to last until mid-October. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

Reuse Days is back for 2017; first event scheduled for March 18

Whitby, Ontario - The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is encouraging residents to drop off reusable items, free of charge, at Reuse Days. The items will be donated to Habitat for Humanity ReStores (Ajax, Oshawa and Uxbridge locations), Diabetes Canada and the Salvation Army Thrift Store.
When: Saturday, March 18, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This is the first Reuse Days event of the year; monthly Reuse Days will continue until October.
