Drop off electronic waste, household hazardous waste and reusable items in Scugog on October 19

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region’s Works Department, in partnership with the Township of Scugog, is hosting a Diversion Day on October 19. At the event, you can drop off electronic waste, household hazardous waste and reusable items, free of charge.
When: Saturday, October 19, from 8 a.m. to noon (rain or shine).
Where: Municipal boat launch (parking lot), 2 Old Rail Lane, Port Perry.

Health Department reports rabid bat found in Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department would like to hear from anyone who may have recently had contact with a bat that has tested positive for rabies. The bat was found in a park near the intersection of McQuay Boulevard and Dundas Street West in Whitby, on Aug. 10. The positive test result on the bat was reported to the Health Department on Oct. 3. This is the third bat that has tested positive for rabies in Durham Region this year.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department advises residents of lane restrictions and night work on Consumers Drive (Regional Road 25) in the Town of Whitby.
When:
- October 7 to 28.
- Night lane restrictions: October 24, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Night road closure: October 27, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m.
Unfavourable weather conditions may influence work schedule.
