Durham Region diverts 160 metric tonnes of household batteries from the waste stream

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region has officially diverted 160.5 metric tonnes (160,500 kilograms) of household batteries from the waste stream through its award-winning curbside battery collection program with the recent spring collection drive.

Lane restrictions on Taunton Road in Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents of lane restrictions on Taunton Road at the intersection of Baycliffe Drive in Whitby.

When: Work begins this week and is expected to continue until July 14. After July 14, construction work will continue but without lane restrictions; two lanes will be maintained in each direction on Taunton Road.

Update: Brock Street South/Water Street in Whitby re-opens

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is advising residents that Brock Street South and Water Street in Whitby has been re-opened, but with a temporary weight restriction of five tonnes per axle. The street was closed as a precautionary measure during flooding.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department is advising residents that Victoria Street East (Regional Road 22) from Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) to Seaboard Gate has been re-opened. The road was closed due to localized flooding and to accommodate related road repairs.
