Limited second dose COVID-19 vaccine appointments available for expanded eligibility groups

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department is aware of the announcement from the province earlier today which indicated beginning June 26, youth 12 to 17-years old who live in a Delta hot spot become eligible for an accelerated second dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Second dose eligibility for this group has been decreased to 28 days after the first dose of vaccine from the previous eight weeks (56 days) that was outlined by the province.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of an upcoming road closure of Britannia Avenue East, east of Simcoe Street North in the City of Oshawa.
When: June 28 until July 2. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Road closure of Britannia Avenue East, east of Simcoe Street North in the City of Oshawa.
Why: To complete road reconstruction work within the intersection in a safe and efficient manner.

Whitby, Ontario - The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of June 21 indicate that four beaches have been posted as unsafe for swimming due to elevated bacteria levels. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, in partnership with the Town of Whitby, is advising residents of lane restrictions on Rossland Road in Whitby.
When: June 28 to end of September. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Rossland Road, from Cochrane Street (Regional Road 43) to 220 metres east of Brock Street North in the Town of Whitby.
