Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has started testing waters at designated public beaches throughout the Region as part of the 2021 Beach Monitoring Program. Test results for the week of June 7 indicate that no beaches have been posted as unsafe for swimming due to elevated bacteria levels. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is partnering with the Township of Brock, Township of Scugog and Township of Uxbridge to host the Virtual North Durham Seniors’ Fair and Virtual North Durham Learning Series.
When: The Virtual North Durham Seniors’ Fair is Wednesday, June 23 and Thursday, June 24, followed by the Virtual North Durham Learning Series from July 2021 to March 2022.

Road closure on Winchester Road in Whitby

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of a full road closure on Winchester Road East in the Town of Whitby.
When: Saturday, June 5 from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Winchester Road East (Regional Road 3), from Anderson Street (Regional Road 36) to Thornton Road (Regional Road 52) in Whitby.
Why: To safely complete paving operations.

Help conserve water by practicing odd-even lawn watering this summer

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is reminding residents using our municipal water supply to practice odd-even lawn watering, from now until September, in an effort to conserve water.
Odd-even lawn watering means residents with an odd number home address should only water on odd calendar days, and vice versa—if your home address is an even number, then water only on even calendar days. Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham continues to seek feedback from the public on the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWP) with three upcoming virtual open houses. The CSWP is being developed in partnership with the Durham Regional Police Service and in collaboration with local area municipalities, community partners and the public.
