Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents that the Scugog Waste Management Facility (WMF) in the Township of Scugog will be temporarily closed to the public to accommodate the installation of new scales.
When: August 24 to 28, reopening on August 31.
Where: Scugog WMF (1623 Reach Street, Port Perry)

Whitby, Ontario – As part of Envision Durham, the Region of Durham is considering an amendment to the Regional Official Plan (ROP) to implement policies that support transit-oriented development within Protected Major Transit Station Areas (PMTSAs) across the region. Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of a full road closure of Wilson Road South, between Olive Avenue and Shakespeare Avenue, in the City of Oshawa.
When: August 16 to 20. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Wilson Road South (Regional Road 35), between Olive Avenue (Regional Road 59) and Shakespeare Avenue, in Oshawa.
Why: To safely install water and sanitary services.

Whitby, Ontario – The following represents beach-posting information for Durham Region beaches. Test results for the week of July 26 indicate that three beaches have been posted as unsafe for swimming due to elevated bacteria levels. Beaches are posted as unsafe for swimming when elevated levels of E. coli exceed the provincial standard of 200 E. coli per 100 ml of water.
