Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents of lane restrictions on Lake Ridge Road (Regional Road 23) and a road closure on Regional Road 13 in the Township of Brock.
When: August 19 to 21 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.

The Region of Durham has teamed up with the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), as well as York Region, to monitor and look at what shapes Lake Ontario’s water quality in west Durham.

Levels of toxins exceed Health Canada recommended guidelines
Whitby, Ontario, August 14, 2020 – Durham Region Health Department has closed Kinsmen Beach in Lake Scugog due to elevated levels of toxins from blue-green algae that is present in the water. Test results from water samples taken on Aug. 5 by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks, indicate that toxins are at levels that exceed Health Canada’s recommended guidelines for recreational water.

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region Health Department has received notification of more adult mosquitoes that have tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV), with positive mosquitoes now reported from three trap sites.
