Donation bins at Durham’s Waste Management Facilities have now reopened

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents that donation bins, operated and collected in partnership with Diabetes Canada and Salvation Army, have now reopened for donations at our Waste Management Facilities (WMF).
When: Tuesday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Wednesday to Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Where: Regional WMFs in Oshawa and Port Perry. Donation bins are located after the weigh scales.

Be Water Smart: Conserve Durham water

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is reminding residents to limit all non-essential indoor and outdoor water use by practising water conservation methods during this heatwave as much as possible.
Limiting all non-essential indoor and outdoor water use includes cleaning driveways or decks, washing cars and lawn watering. During extreme hot weather, water conservation is necessary to maintain adequate water levels to deal with emergencies, including fire protection.

Mandatory water restrictions for Greenbank residents and businesses are now in effect

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents and businesses in Greenbank of mandatory water restrictions during the extreme hot weather. Residents and businesses are required to discontinue all non-essential indoor and outdoor water use during this time.
When: Effective immediately.
Where: Greenbank in the Township of Scugog.
Why: Water use restrictions are necessary to maintain adequate water levels to deal with emergencies, including fire protection.
