Region of Durham to test nuclear alerts on November 23 and 24

Whitby, Ontario – The Region of Durham will hold its fall test of the nuclear alerting system on November 23 and 24. The system warns people in the unlikely event of an emergency at the nuclear generating station in Clarington or Pickering.
The test will take place during daytime hours over two days:
On November 23, an auto dialer will call landline phone numbers within 10 kilometres of the nuclear generating stations. Call display will show the calls as coming from 905-666-6291.

Beaver River Bridge in Beaverton closed for repairs

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is advising residents that the Beaver River Bridge in Beaverton will be temporarily closed to traffic for repairs.
When: Starting November 9 for approximately two to three months. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: The Beaver River Bridge, which connects Simcoe Street (Regional Road 15) over the Beaver River, located in the community of Beaverton in the Township of Brock.
