New signs at local beaches provides beachgoers with information on blue-green algae

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department has started its Beach Monitoring program for the 2019 season and beachgoers will notice a new sign posted at area beaches that provides information on blue-green algae.
The new sign called "What is Blue-Green Algae?" will be posted at all public beaches in Durham Region throughout the swimming season. The sign will give the public general information about blue-green algae and precautionary measures that can be used when visiting area beaches.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department advises residents of lane restrictions on Bloor Street West (Regional Road 22), in the City of Oshawa.
When: June 10 to 28. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Eastbound and westbound lane restrictions on Bloor Street West, from 75 metres west of Oxford Street to 50 metres east of Oxford Street, in Oshawa.

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region’s Works Department, in partnership with the Town of Whitby, is hosting a Diversion Day on June 15. At the event, you can drop off electronic waste, household hazardous waste and reusable items, free of charge.

Whitby, Ontario – Durham Region’s Works Department has won the Ontario Public Works Association’s (OPWA) Bruce Brunton Award for its 2018 National Public Works Week (NPWW) campaign.
