Residents in Newcastle and Newtonville asked to conserve water overnight on October 23

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham is asking residents in Newcastle and Newtonville to conserve water on the evening of October 23, as the Works Department undergoes maintenance work at the Newcastle Water Supply Plant (WSP). Residents should refrain from indoor and outdoor non-essential water use during this time.
When: From October 23 at 10 p.m., overnight until October 24 at 8 a.m.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to advise residents of lane restrictions on Winchester Road East (Regional Road 3) in the City of Oshawa.
When: October 29 to December 14. Unfavourable weather conditions may influence the work schedule.
Where: Winchester Road East, east and west bound lanes, at Bridle Road in Oshawa.

Whitby, Ontario – The Regional Municipality of Durham, Works Department would like to remind residents to keep the health and safety of waste collection operators in mind when they set out their waste for curbside collection.
Waste collection operators can be severely injured when collecting a garbage bag containing large pieces of broken glass, broken porcelain or hypodermic needles. For the protection of the operators, all waste set out for collection must be in compliance with the Region’s Waste...

Whitby, Ontario - Durham Region Health Department was advised by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) of the presence of a blue-green algal bloom in small area of the southwest portion of Frenchman’s Bay, near Sunrise Ave., in Pickering. Laboratory test results were received from the MECP on Oct. 11. Whitby, Ontario – As the cold weather approaches, The Regional Municipality of Durham continues to work with its community partners to help ensure those who are most vulnerable, primarily the homeless population in Durham, take the appropriate precautions and find an emergency shelter.
